The VIP and Opening Nights went really well, and I'm happy to say that our gallery is off to a great start. We're still "under construction", but that's no reason not to come see some fantastic wonders and beautiful art pieces... come on by and see us between 10 am and 6 pm weekdays, and Saturdays as well.

And you all better be at the closing party, or you'll miss the fun, possibly costumed, and most of the food and wine. Which would just be sad.

Ok, I''ve been sitting on this one...
I've actually known about this for awhile, but the prospect was so awesome that I wanted to make absolutely sure before I announced it. Studio Foglio Comes to Farmersville. For the duration of this exhibit, we will have the privilege of displaying original illustration and artwork by Kaja and Phil Foglio, creators of the "Girl Genius" webcomic and book series. Man, it is great to get that off my chest. Really hard to keep that bottled in.  If you haven't seen their work, check out girlgenius.net and find out what you've been missing.

Happy, happy, joy, joy. If you're familiar with Dr. Grordbort, then the mere mention of his name in this entry has probably already sent your pulse racing and heart aflutter. But for those of you less in touch with the now, let me elaborate:

Dr. Grordbort is famous for his intimidating line of Infallible Aether Oscillators (rayguns). These pieces have been featured in steampunk articles and fan-blogs around the globe. And more so, they have been quite coveted by those in the employ of this gallery. Well, here's the newsflash...
THEY ARE COMING TO THIS GALLERY!

We have just received word from WETA, Dr. Grordbort's New Zealand-based engineers and confidants, that all three current models of Infallible Aether Oscillators are en route to this building to be put on display for the duration of our exhibit. The Helix Gallery will have the privilege of being the first Art Gallery in the United States to ever have these pieces in a show.

Please check these amazing pieces out at Dr. Grordbort's website (click sample).

News from across the pond! For the delight and perusal of our "Steam Works" patrons, the highly acclaimed print series "Scenes From A Retrofuture Society" from British artist Alex CF will be on display as part of our exhibit. More of Alex's spectacularly unusual art can be found at his website.

The Helix Gallery's Inaugural show is entitled "Steam Works". Loosely, the show would pigeonhole into the "Steampunk" genre, but this exhibition promises to show much more than that anachronistic convention.

We will be displaying amazing "Retro-Future" works from artists around the globe. Each piece, aggregated, collected, sifted, distilled, and placed on display for your perusal and amusement. This truly has been the most fun and memorable exhibit I've ever been a part of. And I think you will have fun too. The "Steam Works" exhibit opens promptly at 8 in the Evening, Friday May the 9th.

We have a new website, a new building, and our inaugural exhibition is coming up on May 9th. Wow, that never ceases to sound amazing...

I'd like to formally invite everyone to come out to our new location in Farmersville, TX and see the show (which runs through June 30th). Better yet, come to the opening. There will be incredible artwork from overseas as well as our native talents on display, just dripping with wonderful retrofuturistic, gaslamp fantasy.

Did I mention there'll be free commestibles? Yes, and places to rest your weary feet if standing isn't your thing.

So come see the wonders we have for you! May 9th, 8 pm.
